Holmes & NGC1499

Got this last night - in a howling gale I couldn't use more than a 50mm lens with camera on my most rigid tripod - would like to get a tracked shot with a longer lens over the next couple of days while these guys are still together in the sky. 13x13secs (lucky for some) stacked in DSS, processed in PSE5

I had no idea Holmes was still as bright. Is it still a binocular object for a quick peek i wonder? - I have not looked for it for a couple of weeks now

Thats I nice shot, I wonder if you would be able to see both together in a pair of binocs from a dark site. I seem to remember being able to spot 1499 in larger binocs and if i remember correctly just about in 10X50's. Would be interesting to have a look again if I can get to dark sky over next few days.

Fair play to you Paul, I meant to have a go too, but the cloulds were too unstable last night.

I'm yrying to have a go too. It is said that Holmes now appears more circular, since it's orbital perspective has changed.
