Thanks for the encouragement folks.... much appreciated.

Keith, Yep that filter does the biz alright without it, all I would see at F2.8, ISO1600 for 120 second exposures would be a red image and nothing else in it!!

John, the shot was piggybacked on the CGE.

Paul, the Light Pollution is bad and getting worse in my location. I have a "security" light from a factory partly illuminating my back garden and there are a few of those "globe" lights on the street to my back which illuminate more of the sky than the ground...... Time to get out the catapult methinks!!

Holy smoke i totally agree with the guy's above it's a fab image.I also have the CLS insert filter and i have to say that although i have not pushed the exposure with it yet it seems to work a treat.Anyway great shot and nice processing.

oh wise man why is the universe so perfect?ah because symmetry loves herself.

Excellent photo. I just have one quick question about the setup. You mention you used an CLS Filter. Does this filter screw into the camera body over the mirror with the Tamron lens fixed as normal or is the filter screwed into the bottom of an eyepiece?

Hi Joanna,

It is a clip in filter which sits between the Lens and the Camera.
