Spiral Galaxy NGC 3351 M95 was created by eansbro
Hi guys,

I hope you all like this one of this interesting galaxy.

This is an image of spiral galaxy NGC 3351 M95. It was processed over a week ago and shows a face on look with interesting colouration at the central core. I came across this before with another galaxy showing high ionization of specific elements. Does anybody have any ideas as to the elements?

I find some of the strange looking galaxies astonishing of what they get up too.

For example, tipping the cosmic scales at over 2 trillion solar masses is the faint, 14th magnitude giant spiral galaxy UGC 12591 in the constellation Pegasus. Spirals of this size are canabalising other nearby galaxies. Usually the 'heavy-weights' of the universe are the elliptical galaxies. A recently discovered example of galactic canabalism in progress may be the galaxy Arp 220.

Arp 220, also called IC 4553, has a complex shape, neither elliptical nor spiral. Arp 220 one of the most luminous known galaxies. Each second, it radiates more energy than 2 trillion stars like the sun, mostly in the infrared, and within a region less than 7000 light years across. It even gives of a continuous maser emission. This is a rarity!

Arp's "Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies" has recently been re-published.

Arp is also known for his controversial views about quasars being linked to more nearby galaxies.
The supposed connection between NGC 4319 and Markarian 205 being the most famous (or infamous!).

Hi Peter
Thanks for posting that information, if you find Arp’s work interesting then I am sure you will also find the work of “Meta Research” interesting as well. This link is to Meta Research website, entitled "Near Vs. Far", which explains in tabular form interpretation of current standard model and interpretation of generic model of Quasars.

Quote: “We see that, although both interpretations are possible, Occam's Razor cuts sharply in favor of the nearby quasar interpretation. The consequences of continuing to ignore this in journal articles, at meetings, in grant awards, in experiment and instrument design, in telescope allocation, in textbooks, and in the classroom, are to inhibit meaningful progress in the field on many fronts. This is true regardless of which hypothesis is more nearly correct, since ignoring useful, viable hypotheses or discordant data teaches unscientific behavior”.
