Oh, and I meant to ask, do you use your webcam in RAW or NON RAW mode?

MIchael
raw mode as usual astrosnap gives real time decoding of raw so that you see a colour image appear on your screen.
Think about it like this - astrosnap keeps the image inside a pre defined window, it then takes a scren gab of this and shows it on another window. This second window is whats saved as a bmp, and the image alwys appears in th middleof it. Hope this explains it.

Hi folks- all these nice pictures are making me feel like dismantling a webcam...
I'd love to hear a bit more about how you took this photo- I'm a total newbie when it comes to astrophotography- although I did do a photography module in college.

Hi Dpower
DONT DISMANTLE YOUR WEBCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's the simple steps,
1) Buy a ToUCam pro webcam
2) Unscrew the lens
3) Buy or make an adaptor that fitsfrom the webcam into your 1.25" eyepice holder.
4)Use the software that comes with the webcam to take an avi of the planet/moon. Adjust gain and exposure to get the image right.
5)Download registax to stack and align your frames.
I'm hoping to do a how to and a brief workshop on Registax3 (I've been part of the testing team for the last 7 months) as part of the January SDAS meeting - TBC.
Welcome to the wonderful world of webcamming (I think that's the right verb:).
