First Quarter Moon - 13 April 2008 was created by michaeloconnell
Image taken last night.
Canon 400d, TEC140 refractor, ISO100, 1/160sec
Constructive feedback on how I could improve the framing/title of the image would be appreciated.

I think it's fine as it is, nice and understated. The different orientation is good as well, made me think of the images of the earth rising over the moon.

It's a lovely shot Michael! It's only my preference but I have come to the conclusion that the Moon only looks "right" the way I'm used to seeing it - ie in a portrait format with the Mare Crisium towards the upper right. This of course only arises as I've spent over 95% of my life in the upper part of the Northern Hemisphere!

Thats a cool capture Michael. I swapped the H16 ccd onto the 10" yesterday and used a H alpha filter to get focus on the moon. The detail you got with the Canon is as good or better than the ccd.
P.S. as a DSO imager I hate the moon  All my dust bunnies jump out of the screen and say a BIG HELLO.

Michael,
A nice shot, I personally prefer to see the moon a little whiter, but that's just me.

Nice shot Mike, very sharp but not to the point that it needs to be blurred like some previous shots before. I can't fault it really. Your image title is like a stardate there (1342008). At 1/160th of a second, it must have been quite a bright sight in the TEC140.
