my current house plans (we're site hunting at the moment) include a dark room for 35mm processing. So I'm not giving up the ghost yet on film astrophotography!
Seanie.

man, that's dedication, and I thought a big white dome in the back garden was mad. :)
If you see a small chemical explosion in the Midlands, that's our Seanie

And THAT one will be just from the barbecue out the back... :D

Well lads,
As per usual with new equipment, I went a little nuts on ebay getting parts for it.
I went and got an olympus strap and an automatic film winder (winder2), I intend bringing this camera to Russia for the ecilpse so I cant be winding film manually given the short length of the eclipse. I have a camera case on the way and hope to have it soon.

Here are 2 pics.

this is just the camera body

I cant get over how small this thing looks compared to the canon 300D, the light level sensor works as does the time delay dial.
One nifty feature of this camera is that you can change the aperture, focus and set the exposure speed using your left hand while holding the camera with your right hand as all the dials are right by where the lens meets the camera body, a clever idea. The dials on the top of the camera body are the film speed and film rewind.

and this is it with the body + film winder + lens at full zoom.

The winder is cool!!, it can do 2.5 images a second, that's an entire 24 film roll in about 10 seconds.
and amazingly, it looks like the canon electronic cable release works on the Olympus winder, cool!!!
I'm going to wire it up so that when I fire the canon that it will also fire the Olympus for the eclipse.

The first thing that hit me when I looked into the view finder is the massive field of view, it isn't just down to the fact that its a full frame 35mm film camera, Olympus seem to have made this extra wide as its definitely wider them my Practika 35mm film camera,

One question to you OM owners out there, is there a way of disabling the fire button as on more then one occasion I've pressed this inadvertently so taking a picture of the ground.
