Iridium Flare & Light Pollution was created by Frank Ryan
This shot shows an Iridium flare from the Burren last night.
The first time we were down there Dave and I reckoned the
light was skyglow from Ennis / Limerick.
(it wasn't as obviously 'narrow' before)
Turns out it is ONE single 'security' light from a house down the road.
(This shot is photoshopped to reduce the orange glow)
It just gos to show that you don't need a lot of lights to ruin the night sky.
I was somewhat ok with it when I thought it was Ennis,
but now I know it is just one light it's driving me crazy.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

What the hell are they protecting requiring a light of such intensity? Portlaoise prison wouldn't have anything that bright.
For all that, nice image.

We all though that light was Ennis and Limerick last time we were there, a pity really, as it happens Clare has some very strict anti light pollution laws, maybe we should consider nicely approaching this house, make them honorary members of the club ??
With a haze free night, its really not that in your face, but with haze its fairly obvious...

There seems to be no limit to the intensity of lighting being sold for outdoor use, and it really shows here lads, it's a pity, but the irish government just continuously turn a blind eye. It really has drowned out the center of the milkyway.
Nice shot with the flare though!

One light?
What the hell !!!
Are their cows or sheep afraid to sleep in the dark or something?
STILL a very impressive image though. Sorry to say this BUT................
The nasty light actually adds a little something to the image.
