The ATiK 1HSII

hHI guys, ive been looking at CCD cameras for ages now and there seems to be such a big market with very different prices specs etc! I came across this:

www.atik-instruments.com/ go to cameras then 1HSII. It seems good and ive seen it for sale for 400€ on telescope service and ive found it second hand for 80£ sterling!

Honest opinion sppreciated as i dont want to have a hunk o junk! But for that price and dont see why not!!!

It's a modified webcam, thats really all it is. Same CCD no cooling. My advice, save for an Atik 16IC this is a far superior camera.

IM getting very confused! Which CCD cameras especially for astronomy arent just uprateed webcams??? and what is the cheapest you can get these??

I have direct experience of these manufacturers and can recommend them. Others might have other suggestions.

I'm sure when your a student even 80quid is a lot to be spending on a modded webcam which you WILL want to upgrade in no time at all.
