Globular Cluster M 13 was created by eansbro
Hi guys,

Image of M13 processed the other day.
More difficult time for imaging because of short night.
The image had to be scaled down.
There is slight bit of spiking in some brighter stars.
Exposures were kept short to avoid saturation of central image.
Unfortunately there is saturation still at the central core.
No filters were used except for L.

Taken on 8th June 2008

Using 0.9m Wynne Newt. at f/4
plus AP8p CCD
Exposures: L 10 x 30 secs
Processed with MIRA PRO 7.5 on the 18 June

Hi Eamonn,
Very nice I would love to see what that scope off yours would do on a 10 hour exposure at 10 to 20 min subs WOW.

Ps I will be in Roscommon in August I would love to pop by and have a look at your set up. While I'm the north west :D

Thanks Michael and Dave for providing the link location, I was distracted by something else.

Michael, you are right, the image you have linked to is the one of M 13.

Carl, I have tried experimenting with some long exposures. Depending on the target for example a close wound galaxy with a central core, saturates the core. This is mainly due to the high QE of the sensor. Stars start spiking which means carrying out work getting rid of the spikes through a cleaning wand. Some bright stars have literally spiked all the way to the edge of the frame, while other targets which are faint there is no problem.

Dave G asked me some months ago the same question. I have attempted M 51 the other day with long exposures. Interestingly enough, although there is saturation at the central core other details start manifesting in the outer regions. I've experimented with enhancing detail that was hard to distinguish from the original image.

Hmm, I wonder would you be able to take processed images of varying "exposure" and then blend them together using a HDR function or similar.
