IC 5067 - Pelican Nebula in Cygnus was created by ayiomamitis
Dear friends ... and streaker Dave,
Last night I sat down to pursue the Pelican nebula in Cygnus. I was debating between the widefield version (IC 5070) using my Tak FSQ and the narrowfield version (IC 5067) using my AP160.
As is often the case, my AP160 prevailed (okay, I am biased) and I went after the known area involving the neck of the pelican and which is characterized with tendrils. I was disappointed at my operating temperature (-2.5d Celsius, 93% capacity) but then beggars can't be choosers.
For a result based on nearly 4.5 hours using luminance layering, I kindly direct you to www.perseus.gr/Astro-DSO-IC-5067.htm . My camera is quite weak in the red and the high operating temperature made processing an interesting exercise and challenge.

At least the pelican has it clothes on
This is a fine result Anthony. Plenty of nice detail and nice colour. If thats a weak response in the red, i'd like to see a good response! I almost forget what the inside of my observatory looks like as it has been so long since the weather co-operated with an imaging session.

Hi Dave,
Our weather here in Greece is so good that we take it very much for granted. I remember speaking to Stefan Seip last year and he mentioned to me it is probably the case that they have 40 days of clear skies each year. I could not believe my ears when I heard this statement.
Between May and October (inclusive) each year, you can count the number of bad days with the fingers on one hand. During the other part of the year, it is a toss-up since we have years where that period is also characterized with good weather and vice versa.
We get a week of bad weather and we whine and gripe incessantly. If only we knew how good we have it! :!:

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
