Very nicely done Frank,
Fab widefield images there, some of the best I've seen on the boards yet, the advantages of absolutely no light pollution is clear for all to see!!

The electroluminesence noise on the lower right is a pity, this is caused by warm circuits near that location of the chip, you seriously need to get your hands on a camera which has better noise characteristics, such as the 400D, preferably the 450D. Dark frames help alot with small amounts of random red dots here and there but don't cover you so well at high concentrations such as in that area. If it makes you feel any better, the 300D is on a par with the 350D for noise.
There is a good site somewhere illustrating the dark frames of several of the Canon DSLR camera, but I cant find it.

As for the etx on the mount, hey, what have you got to loose, give it a go and see what happens, if it doesn't work, then no loss, if it does work then great. Polar alignment will obvious be alot more critical here and it might be the show stopper in this situation given the arc second PE you mentioned for the astrotrack, experimenting will tell.

The star field in the first image is stunning, is the rich star field M24 and M17 (the swan) to the middle left above it? it certainly looks like it.

8-)

It'd have been cool to have taken a bunch of shots of the whole of
Sagittarius to take in the trifid & lagoon also.
Ah well,
Next time.
