I don't understand what you mean.
I'd have assumed that it was all someway real.

At the risk of sounding a little thicker than normal Mike,Is all that detail actually real?

Mabey I'm wrong, but I've never heard of anyone seeing anything close to that level of detail in the corona before.
However, I am open to correction.
Perhaps someone here who has observed the corona with a decent-sized scope can confirm: how close does this image resemble the view through a telescope?

I think the answer is that yes, the detail is in some sense real, but it's not what you'd see.
I've seen two totalities, one of which I looked at through an ETX70 and there's more detail visible to the aided eye than comes out in single exposure photographs.
Miloslav Druckmuller's image shown here is an example of multiple images of different exposure being overlaid in such a way that the detail adds up every time - a massive dynamic range, greater than either the eye or the camera can normally cope with, is compressed into an 8-bit/channel image that you can see on your screen.
Is it real? Well, it's like the multiple overdubs of the vocals on the Abba records. Yes, you are listening to the voices of Agnetha and Frida, but no, at no instant in time did they sound like the finished recorded article.
Confused? Yes, I think I might be

Spot on Paul
He probably uses layer masks to selectivley sharpen and enhance individual areas of the corona. Even still what an image

I dunno Paul.
I think it is what it is y'know?
I'm 99.9% sure it ain't what you'd see visually but shur nearly
every photo of an eclipse wouldn't show that anyway.
You'd have to set the camera up to make the outcome the same as
what the eye would see.
His image is far more interesting.

A really amazing image, but like you say above it does not represent what you'd visually see at an eclipse, then again he is trying to get as much detail as possible which isn't the same objective as capturing what you'd see visually.
It's a highly technical image with alot of time and work put into it, fair play to him. !
