Saturn LRGB was created by carlobeirnes
Here is an image of Saturn that I just processed from march 07, As you can see by the image the amount of work that goes into one image with a black and white camera when you combine the LRGB in Photoshop. But the results can be much better than using a colour camera.

Taken with a Celestron CGE 14" @ f/22. Lumenera SkyYnx 2.0. Astronomik LRGB Filters 5 Min exposure on each channel at 60 fps Processing Registax v4 Photoshop CS2,Seeing good .

I don't now how this turned out having a bit of a problem with my laptop monitor. But it looks ok to me

That is a well focused sharp image Carl.
As for colours - there is a reason why mono is sooo much easier! :) - the saturation looks a little high to me. If you were to tone this down a little, I think it would help. But that's just my eyes.

Hi Michael,

I think I get your question why is colour easier than mono?. Well as you know monochrome cameras are much more sensitive than colour cameras. With a colour webcam you just have one image to run through registax and then a little touch up in photoshop and hey presto image complete. Now with a B&W camera you have four times the work to do.At the Scope you have to take four separate images consisting of 1-L 1-R 1-G 1-B so then you run them each in registax, Then you bring your images into photoshop where you combine your four bitmaps to get your image of Saturn. At the end of the day you are supposed to get a lot more detail from a mono Camera, but there is a lot more work involved. Just one reason why I tell people starting off planetary imaging to stick with a colour camera until they get more experienced. I hope this answers your question.
