M31 was created by paulevans
For the first time since April I finally got the full rig out. Sky was less transparent than advertised but still adequate. Target for the evening was M31.

Here's two goes at it.....

Both with Sony A700 at prime focus of Meade 8" f4 Schmidt Newtonian on LXD75 mount - 14 and 10x 30secs ISO1600 respectively.

Clear skies,

Paul.

Sweet image Paul, well done. 10 thirty second exposures and you got that? Wow. You should link to a larger version, I'd like to see that (unless you're already planning ahead for a monthly astrophotography competition... ;)).

Fabulous!, somewhat similar to a v low power eyepiece view in the scope, the dark lanes are great.

Yeah. Gotta agree there with Dave.
The first one has a real 'honest' quality to it.
I like it a lot better than some of the really
famous long exp. versions of this!

yea, for me the first one has a real sense of looking through the veil of stars in own galaxy at a very massive remote object, cool..
