Back again complete with more imaging problems.
I downloaded K3CCD Version 1 (managed to find the freeware version on the site).
Installed it no problem and got to use it for the first time last night. Started to record a few seconds of Jupiter but when I went to stop the recording the program froze and the "Not Responding" etc message came up. Ended up using task manager etc.
I'm thinking the problem could be the fact that I'm running Vista:unsure:
Has anyone encountered this problem or have any possible fixes

Joanne,
I am no expert of K3CCD Tools by any means, but I have seen in various places on the web that Vista is what's breaking its back of late. I don't know if anyone here has a fix for you yet, but it has cropped up before.
Seanie.

This is probobly normal and nothing to do with Vista
If you are saving as an AVI file the sizeof the file will be huge, could typically go up to over 2gb. Therefore the delay you are experiencing is probobly the laptop writing all the stuff to hard disk. This could take a minute or so depending on the speed of your laptop.
See if the hard disk light is on and if it is rattling away. If so just leave it alone for a while and it will come back to life.
Good luck

It could be point 6 on this list:
www.pk3.org/Astro/index.htm?k3ccdtools_faq_howto.htm
2 min worth of an AVI is all you need for the moon / planets
if you intend on processing it in Registax.
Registax does not open large AVIs.
I have in the past recorded 3 or 4 two min avi's
then ripped out all the (good) single frames from each
and stitched them together to make one single avi.
However, this is a humongous amount of work!
To begin with just run off a 2 min AVI every few minuets.
You are bound to catch one out of say 20 with good seeing
that will yield a good final image in Registax.
