The best advice i could give would just to experiment with different exposures and apertures until you get a clear image. Set the camera to raw format (if using a DSLR), You can correct your exposure afterwards on the pc using sofware like Photoshop. Set the camera to manual and bracket your exposures around the exposure meter readings. Those images i took had an exposure of F5.6 for 1 second. Hope some of this helps. :)

Hi guys, very nice photos you got of tonight's western sky spectacle. I wasn't too far from you James. I drove out of the City and took the photo below from the roadside between Brittas and Blessington. Good luck for clear skies on Monday night!

Lovely shot John. Well framed. I'm really hoping tomorrow evening will be clear. I'm gonna try and attempt M42 tonight before the fog rolls in!
