Quarter Moon was created by calchas
Managed to get some early shots of the moon tonight:

I went out after making dinner but the freezing fog had rolled in killing any chance.
Clear skies

Steve,
I *really* like that shot. Some lovely detail in there. Very well processed, not a hint of the join lines in the mosaic.
Congrats on a fine image.

Dave
Many thanks.
I've been experimenting with the 'blend' in the PS CS3 photomontage. Until this shot it hasn't worked well at all leaving horrid boundaries in level.
Before merging these shots I tweaked the levels on all 6 frames compared to 1 frame, ensuring that the dynamic range was very similar. I think I have this suss'ed now. the changes in range were really quite small. And it resulted in a better mosaic.

Steve What I do in Photoshop is to add each frame as a separate layer. Then use the move tool to line each one up. Once thats done the erase tool used on an upper layer just utterly erases the join lines. As for processing the individual frames, I simply use registax to stack each image and then save each one. The I load each back into registax applying exactly the same wavelet settings to each, thus ensuring that all are exactly the same.
Heres one I did back in February under better seeing than last night
