Canon 450D

Hi

I am looking at getting a Canon camera for astrophotography and general photography. Are the 450D's any better than the 400D for astrophotography. There are some good deals on cameras at the moment.

The 450D is without a shadow of doubt the best pick of the two
if only for the larger LCD screen and more importantly the 'live view' (Focus) function.

Camera ordered. €564 from Pixmania. Hopefully will arrive before Xmas.
Harvey Normans was €899 and Currys at €779.

I may need some photography lessons next time we are at an SAC observing night Frank.

Nice one John, I use both, the 400D at home for astro, and the 450D at work, the live view on the 450D is definitely a great bonus for focus.

With sterling nearing parity id be inclined to look at the UK, cam-ireland.com & and komplett.ie are worth a look
With the introduction of the Nikon D90, the older D80 the D40 or D60 might be worth investigating

Thanks for the link. I actually got it slightly cheaper than the Cam ireland site. Currys price from the UK was £466.
