Tonight after sunset Venus, Jupiter and elusive Mercury were visible in the South West.
Venus was a brilliant Mag -4.24, Jupiter was bright but not obvious at -1.51 and Mercury was an eye squinting -0.72 in the murk.
Although a nice sight to see, next Wednesday (new years eve) will be an even better view as the young crescent Moon will join the alignment.
Should be quite a thing to see and not a bad way to usher in the new year.
