Another M42 & M45 - sorry was created by JohnMurphy
I know everyone is probably fed up at looking at M42, but for what its worth here's another one.
I was down in Wexford for the last couple of days and was treated to some fabulous un-light-polluted dark skies, only the wind was my enemy and I had to throw out 80% of my frames. Just 11 x 30 second exposures made it in to this one; Canon 350D, C8-NGT, ISO800.

Also had a go at M45 on 28th - Canon 350D and C8-NGT. 23 x 30 second exposures at ISO800, again the wind meant I had to throw out about 80% of my frames.

Cheers Dave - am now thinking seriously about upgrading my mount after the volume of data I had to throw away. I might just about stretch to a CGE. Also - I have now been spoiled by a couple of nights under "dark" skies and may just abandon my back garden and head into the mountains more in the new year. Here's to a few decent imaging sessions next year. Sounds like resolutions?

Well done John, given the windy circumstances the detail is clearly there on both images, a great result. Both are keepers!! Great detail, in particular on M45.

It looks like great minds think alike (especially if you are in a county that starts with the letter "W" B) I too was targeting both of those object during the "Christmas Special Clear Sky" bonus;).

Happy New year and best regards

Thanks Steve - I checked your images, they are awesome. How do you find the CGE fares? Your images speak volumes and encourage me to go CGE. Any drawbacks or snags? How about portability? I'd love to move back to Wexford for the relatively dark skies but it seems like portability is my only option.
