FIrst Light - Modded 350D

That's the first time in a long while I actually said WOW out loud
looking at this site!
That's a cracker of a shot there Dave.
You have to let us see the larger size.

Like the guys said, the composition is spot on
and the colour range looks very natural.
Even the spikes on Alnitak look amazing.
Top drawer stuff.

Is there any replacement filter in the camera or is the filter removed completely?
Did you have to do any colour re-balancing to balance out the dominant red colour?

It was a lesson for me in getting it right at the telescope. If you get good lights flats etc then the processsing is made much easier.

Michael the processing was as normal - Lights callibrated in Images Plus 3 then processed (Levels, curves, saturation,USM)in Photoshop and nopise reduction in NeatImage. With the raw frames there's no red cast (as there would be say with jpg where the cam processes the image).

I'll find somewhere to post a larger file 640 pixels doesnt do it justice.

I presume previous shots with the unmoded 350D didn't show near as much detail?

Yeah I wouldnt expect any H2 detail with the unmodded cam. I've seen some umodded images of this area and the H2 region behind the Horse head appeasrs as a faint purple.
