Moon mosaic from the 1st of April was created by james335k
I had the scope out last night for the first time in a long time. After imaging Saturn I couldn't resist grabbing a few shots of the Moon. The mosaic consists of 2 images and was taken through a William Optics Megrez 72 with a DMK21AU04.AS mono camera with an Astronomik red filter attached.

Nice one James - the old red filter ploy does a good job. I've seen quite a few done now using a red filter instead of the IR/UV blocking filter normally used and it looks so much clearer - something to do with this wavelength not being so prone to atmospheric disturbance.

Thanks for the kind words John. You're right about the red filter making a huge difference. The type 2c Astronimik filters also block IR along with the particular wavelength of colour which adds to the overall effect.
