Canon 400d prime focus on Onyx80EDF on Astrotrac TT320x Tracking Mount on Manfrotto Heads and tripod..

Can I have any suggestions for targets of between 1degree and 5 degrees that might be hangin around at this time of year??

Hi Kevin,

Thats a fine shot of the Rosette you achieved there. Great Star Colours too. Well done. How do you find the Astrotrac?

Best regards

steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for looking: cheer:

I find the Astrotrac absolutely fab. Easy to move and set up. I was really struggling with astrophotography before I got it. Certainly for the kind of images Im looking for. It is not supposed to be great for long focal lengths but i have not really tried.
However, the scope that took this image is 500mm!! I am happy evough with its tracking here..
Just a few down sides... It takes a bit of tweaking to get polar alignment as good as possible and if it is even slightly breezy you are finished!!!..
Over all, I could not recommend it highly enough as long as you are aware and happy with its limitations.. I am happy enough with "nice pictures", and to be honest, not too worried about the real hi tech stuff.. but then again I am a complete failure at the hi tech stuff.. Hats off to the guys who can pull it off though.. Huge amount of knowlege required...It always impresses me..

here are 2 others from the same set up.. farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/3328410435_21dc7cf6ae.jpg

I think trailing pretty minimal.. still workin on it though.

Cheers,
Kevin
