I'd argue with that tutorial on the basis that the RGB image is processed the same as the luminance. I try to stick to linear histogram adjustments and use curves only as a last resort. Have you got Noel Carbonis actions for CS? Good for removing colour gradients which you will get on long exposures due to change in sky background
