Jupiter with RGB Channels was created by carlobeirnes
Here is an image of Jupiter showing the RGB channels plus the final image, Jupiter was just 20 deg up at the time.

Carl - nice image.

Just out of curiosity since I've never done any RGB planetary imaging... If you take three images through each filter, Jupiter has rotated a little. Does that cause a problem when you're registering all the images? Or is the rotation soo slow or exposure so short that its no big deal?

Cheers
Dave

This was the basis of my earlier question regarding integration time - if too long then maybe smearing takes place. Jupiter does rotate quite fast.

However, when one uses a webcam - which has an RGB Bayer matrix on chip there is no delay between the images in each channel. But I'd say there is a max duration of AVI if one intends to form a single RGB image from it.

Hi J65 & Mark

Jupiter indeed rotates very fast compared to other planets when imaging. 50 seconds total on each RGB channel is about the max 1 minute would be pushing it.Saturn if you want scientific detail is 5mins total in LRGB.If you just want a pretty picture 10 to 15 mins. Give a try some time you will have a great time.

Carl.
