Exactly my thoughts too Michael.

There seems to be a lot of new folks here who are making great strides in astrophotography. And I'm sure we all would appreciate a workshop to either get us up onto the next rung or to focus (no pun) on particular techniques etc.

It was a shame the folks abroad couldn't commit but I'd agree - I think the quality of the folks here, in their individual fields of endeavour really are top drawer and if amenable, would be more than capable of contributing a solid lecture.

Rather than hijack Carl's thread (sorry Carl) I'll summarise the thoughts on a workshop and open a new thread and see where it goes.

Cheers

Dave

Secondly, perhpas we *are* due another astrophotography workshop - and I personally believe we have the expertise here to carry it. No need to look beyond Ireland for expertise - but no harm in bringing a big name or two over....

What do folks think?

As you know Dave, I spent considerable time last year trying to get two well known astrophotographers over here for a one day course but they could just never fully commit to a date despite I organising a venue, food, flights etc. At this stage, in the interests of it actually happening and reducing the need to depend on too many other factors outside our control, I would suggest that we keep it local. Besides, we have got some great people here on the IFAS website with some great varied experience in all areas of astrophotography so we should be able to develop a full day's programme.

Michael.

The quality of images posted here by some IFAS members is world class. We easily have the expertise within Ireland to host such an event.

By the way, I'm not sure if you feel this way, but I see that you've really come on in leaps and bounds with this astrophotography lark. Its great that you share it all with the crew here and I'm sure it inspires many folks here. You're definately one of the folks that is at the top of the pack.

Dave thank you for the comments. I am where I am because there are so many people out there that give great advice, who push you to do better. There is so much to think about. The amount of hours that go into one image is incredible, your learning new stuff every day. My goal is to improve by one step with every image I take, if I keep that up I'll be very happy. Am I at the top of the pack? I'm no way near where I want to be I've set high goals for myself and this is just the start.

Carl.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.
