Last night 4 of us went down to simons observing site at bragan mountain just outside clougher in co. monaghan.
The views where outstanding with the milky way towering overhead i took a few pics to give an idea of what we saw :)

Those are brilliant, Jonathan. Yes it was fabulous last night.:woohoo: I live at the foot of Bragan, near Bragan Cross.

It's a superb site, with a 360degree panorama, and high enough to be above the fog. The Milky Way last Saturday night was the best I have ever seen from Ireland. We observe from a cemented picnic area, large enough for about 8-10 people including telescopes.
If anyone is interested, the link below will lead to several observing reports from the site in recent weeks, in what is turning out to be a bit of a vintage year for observing sessions, compared to the last couple of years anyway. Make sure to read Simon's blog as well, the link is in his posts.
