iss pass movie was created by calchas
Hi all

For a while I've been trying to get a view of an ISS pass that will give people an idea what it actually looks like. This is a bit faster than real time, but I think I'm close now.

The mad flight out of Dublin airport is a bit of well timed fun.

Regards
Steve

For a second there it was as if the plane was going to go after the ISS,

Very good.
How come you decided to speed it up?

At 1:1 speed it looks like a judderie slide show (naff basically).
What rate to show it at is still a bit of an open question. This was 12 frames a second (1s exposures). I'm still learning how to put these together.

I suppose a pass lasting a few min would be
kinda boring to watch as a video and the speed
is not really that important once you are aware
it is sped up.

Even after countless passes I still
go out and look when it's clear...
You just can't get tired of that spaceship!

Me too. nice to think what's behind the bright dot.

I actually made movies last night at 1x 1.5x 3x (this is at 12x) 24x time. I'm pretty happy this is the one that makes it look moving as opposed to juddering for the slower times and flashing by for 24x. I considered the speed before your question, but only examined it deeply last night.

With this lens (f4) and the brightness and speed of the ISS this is probably the fastest moving thing I can capture this way, longer exposures will mean too few frames, shorter no subject to easily see.

Clear skies
