Very nice image Steve. Would be nice to see a larger version.
I also dug out my modified 300d last night and took a few snaps from a remote site.
Again, colour balance is the issue with them modified DSLRs.
I didn't get enough time last night to play with the settings but I must see what the optimum settings are so as to keep the signal whilst ensuring the image is not over-saturated in red.

Steve,

Thants a very nice image with plenty of potential. I would suggest that all you need is a little colour balance. Increase the colour balance to the red channel to about 130-150% and you will see a big difference to this image. Drop the blue a tad too.

Very nice detail and sharpness.

Adjusted the colour channels as you sugggested.

Here is the result.... certainly makes a difference..
