Some Christmassy shots was created by Frank Ryan
Just a short walk up from my house is a farm
with a small lake which is frozen solid,
it made for a nice scenic setting
to watch and photograph the sunset through the fog on Christmas Eve.
I saw a few cool atmospheric things that evening.
Firstly the Sun cast sort of shadows of the trees into the fog
and it they were kind of projected 3D into the mist, very cool.
Also, I've seen the belt of Venus a few times
(facing East after sunset and you will see the Earths
shadow rising up from the horizon but this time
I could see it rising up as the Sun set,
in fact, it rose steadly and the sky just kept getting darker
and darker.
I noticed a distinct and eiree change in the light,
it reminded me of that time just before a Solar Eclipse
when you begin to notice the silvery, polaroid like
feel to the light.
Here are the shots.
Hope y'all had a great Christmas and here's to
the new year!
