Ah,, ya see! He's getting the astrophotography bug! We'll make an astronomer out of him yet!
Good sharp image. No areas overexposed.
Before you know it, he'll be taking 3 hour exposures of the Andromeda Galaxy
Seriously, hope to see more up here from him.
Bernard has a good eye and he would bring something extra to the area of astrophotography here from his experience.
Michael.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hello, I'm new around here but I was wondering did anybody just see that huge orange ball that passed over Greystones at 9.05 tonight? It was globular shaped and then went into a round shape as it disappeared down the coast, north to south. It was very close to our apartment window in Charlesland. We both saw it and hadn't even had a drink! We had time to get out the binocs but they weren't much help. What could that have been? Exciting but a wee bit scary! I'd be delighted for your knowledgeable remarks.

Hi Jackie,
I recorded two fireball / bright meteor events last night, one at 03h06m26s to the north (travelling WSW) lasting about 1/5th of a second and another at 06h05m08s on the SSE horizon travelling SSE and lasting just 1/10th of a second, but nothing at 9.05. How long did your bright blob last and can you estimate how far across the sky it moved? Also, how high up in the sky was it - roughly? If it was right on the horizon or visible for more than around 8 seconds my system would have ignored it as an aircraft or similar. Could it have been a badly aimed firework? There have been plenty of those over the past few nights - and quite a display from the Greystones direction at 20h50m and again at 23h02m and 23h32m last night!
Phil.
