Central Portion of Orion was created by michaeloconnell
Captured this image over a couple of nights recently
Hutech-modified Canon 300d, Canon 100-400 L IS USM lens @ 100mm focal length, EQ6 mount.
19 x 5 min + 19 x 4 min exposures = 2hrs 51 mins.
4 x 4 min darks + 5 x 5 min darks.
DeepSkyStacker used to combine the images.
Processed in PS CS3.

Wish I could process it a bit better - I think there is room to improve the image a little bit.
Michael.

Excellent wide field shot there Michael. Nice to see that there are a few observers/photographers out there braving the cold weather for that unique shot/drawing!!

Hi Michael,
Great result great fov. I especially like the time and effort that went into the the image makes a big difference to the end result.

Michael - I like it - as others have said its the FOV (and of course the effort...)
You've captured that which anyone gazing up at Orion can recognise and you have captured detail, colour and structure that many never see.

Thanks guys.
Skyglow proved much harder to remove than I had envisaged as I wanted to retain the detail in the nebulae.
Due to the FOV, the skyglow was not uniform across the entire image either, which didn't help.
