Etx125 CCD question. was created by crouges
Hi All,

I seem to be having a problem viewing anything via my monochrome CCD (Jai cvm4pluscl) camera while attached to the Etx125. While I have the appropriate T-C adapter & T64 adapter, no doubt I'm missing something.
The camera is attached to a PC-Camlink grabber card & uses original software.

The camera works perfectly with a lens but when I attached it to the scope, I just get varying shades of gray, without any detail. I've tried to focus it but to no avail. I was able to catch the sun one evening which did seemed promising for future sessions.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Brian.

Hi Brian. Could you post up a pic of that set up?
Is the flip mirror pointing the right way?

Brian,

As Frank mentions ensure the flip mirror is locked in the correct position. You mention you pointed it at the Sun. Sorry to ask but please tell me that you used an appropriate solar filter, if not there is a strong change you have done permanent and irreparable damage to your CCD camera.

Assuming this is ok, point the scope at a very bright star and try focusing, you should see a bright donut on screen even if the camera is not focused.

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.
