Melotte-15,Core Cluster of IC1805

Hi all,

Here is an image of Melotte-15,Core Cluster of IC1805 this is an seven hour exposure using a celestron cge mount 4meg ccd camera and 110mm WO telescope.Image was processed in images plus and Photoshop CS2. I had some fun processing this image bringing out all the different structuresof the nebula

I love the atik 4000 when I got the camera it was purely for pretty pictures. www.atik-instruments.com/html/tech_specs4.html as you can see the Quantum Efficiency is just 55% . Then I realized it's not really suitable for scientific work that I wanted to do. I needed a smaller chip size and a higher QE. The Readout Noise is 11E on the Atik.
I can do some sort of scientific work with the camera but it means spending a lot of money on optec reducers and still getting lot's of vinyetting. because of the chip size CCD - Kodak KAI 04022. I think I'll have to invest in a CCD camera with a higher QE of around 85% for the asteroid imaging and supernova work and just use the atik for the pretty pictures.
