Stand Alone Autoguiding was created by Keith g
Hi folks, just a quick question to pick your brains. I see now that there are stand alone autoguiders out there, eliminating the need for laptop control and additional wiring.
I can see the LVI smartguider is now available, so with my portable CGE set up, it would cut down on a lot of set up for me. Have any of you any knowledge of this?
Declan, did you mention you have one of these??
Thanks,
Keith.

Hi Keith.
Yes I have one. I got the Orion Starshoot Solitaire autoguider from Canada recently.
At this moment in time I have not had an opportunity to use it would you believe.
The OTA housing bracket arrived with one of the plastic aligning screws broken, which meant I could not set it up perfectly.
I had to await another six weeks for the replacement part to arrive on these shores.
I have attached it to my new set up and I will write up a report when I get the first light.

Thanks for your reply Declan. I was wondering about this as it's a hard job setting up the CGE mount outside without having a laptop to consider also. I see it sells for about €450, so I need to save the pennies
Let me know how you get on with yours.

I will indeed Keith.
With my new mount, ED80mm refractor and auto guider...I am getting pretty excited about the coming dark season..
But still want to keep set up times to a minimum.
