DFK codecs was created by johnomahony
Hi

I have a colour DFK camera. In order to get colour images saved onto the laptop for processing I am using RGB 24. The other options display in colour when when I go to process them are in B&W. The RGB 24 results in huge files around 1Gb for 1000 frames. My laptop will only handle about 1000 frames before registax crashes-probably due to memory constaints. Is there another codec combination I should be using which takes up less space as it is limiting my images due to the smaller number of processed frames.

Hi John
I also had a colour firewire camera version (half inch CCD) for a while, I used the camera in Y800 uncompressed AVI format at 15fps at full resolution with IC Capture software so the object under observation appears B/W on the screen, but when processed later in RegiStax under Debayer Option it will appear as a final colour image (The computer will complete all the calculations to align and stack a colour image from the Y800 raw file). This saves disk space and tasking the PC bus when live imaging. I think the way your current software settings are can generate three times larger file sizes on your HDD.

Hope this helps!
