Jupiter 23rd October was created by jimmy2010
well here's my results from lastnight's first pretty cold session this fall! first hard frosts might i say!!!

...it's of course our well known friend jupiter! i captured between 22.44 to 22.46BST. DMK 21AU04.AS, astronomik rgb filters, C9.25, CG5 mount, ultima barlow, 30fps 1500 frames per channel. stacked in registax5 and rgb processed in paintshop pro, croped in paint.

the seeing allowed detailed viewing through the ep at 300x, could clearly see the GRS, and ganymede's disk transiting against the cloud bands of jupiter. pretty amazing! i have captured ganymede on the images but no detail is seen, to be honest it looks more like IO'S shadow than anything else:)

be interesting if tonight will be any improvment? :scope:
clear skies! james.

Great image there James.
Did you notice all those small brown dots along the SEB above Io's shadow?
Is this the brown SEB on the way back ????
I read somewhere that the dark brown is actually from lower layers and it gets sucked up in vortices, this might be it ??

hi dave,

the dark spot to the lower left was actually ganymede's disk transiting jupiter. you could be right abut the SEB. will keep monitoring it more and see. tonight looks another good night. let's hope anyways.

clear skies! j.

Here is a shot I took about 12 hours earlier in poor seeing. The dots have been there for quite some time but the behaviour is strange.
