The Moon, The Sea and The Canon 300D! was created by Keith g
Hi All, I'm just back from a super astrophotography session weekend down at home in Waterford, and I tried out my new Canon 300D with the standard 18-55mm lens to test the camera's quality. I went out to a very quite beach at 5.30am on Saturday morning to catch the cresent moon along with mars to it's upper left rising over the sea. Man it was cold!!
Conditions were, well - superb unbelieveable clear skies, the sight if the centre of ther milkyway rising in the southeast before the moon was simply breathtaking! I've never seen it this clear in ages. Here's some shots i'd like to share, i'm very impressed by the 300D anybody thinking of getting 1, go for it!
This is a wide shot looking Southeast catching the tip of the crescent moon rising:

The Moon, Scorpius, and Mars over the sea:

Funny this, The birds could'nt resist having thier picture taken! they stayed still for at least 20 minutes

Finally, A widefield shot showing a naked eye view:

I can post higher resolution shots if anybody wants, the JPEG posts don't do the pics justice! This camera Kicks Ass!!

Fabulous shots Keith! I especially like the last one with its wide perpective and golden light from the Moon. There's something magical about being alone on the beach with a good camera when all the conditions come together at sunrise/sunset. Bet you took a whole lot more shots than that! Congrats on the new camera, you're going to love it.

if you turn up the gamma on the last shot you can see 2 disticnt short streaks
(as you look at the moon 10o'clock and 2 o'clock)
what are they meteors, satellites, the toilet flushing on the ISS?
lovely pix

Thanks All, So many shots taken, just to get the right ones! I luv this camera, it's great!
Wormhole, those 'streaks' are actually planes coming in fron the states heading for the mainland uk, you see at lot of these at that time of the morning, i'll rub these out when i process this shot.
