Thanks for getting back to me Keith. Just took a look at those images i took last May and I made so many errors!! #1- I did have the LP filter then and I did use it. As you say it left everything a bit greenish. Works well for when I am taking long exposures in dead of winter but short one are required here I think. #2- Don't know what I was thinking but I took 10min exposures, no contrast at all (put that one down to experience!!). 2min subs is a much better idea this time of year and finally error #3- I shot at 300mm. That took the dust lanes out of the picture. Big mistake!! Looks like you shot at something like 135mm?
I think I may have missed the boat this year, giving we are just around the longest day but I would love to give it a shot. Especially to see how much of a diff the mod makes. Also I think the motors are gone on my CG4 and my CG5 is pier mounted and trees block out the south horizon so that a prob. I will certainty try it if the weather gives me a chance though.
Once again this really is a great image given everything that was working against you. Well done.

Great shots Keith. The focus and tracking are perfect, with pinpoint round stars, and the depth is excellent. The technical quality, and the super processing, shows off the deep sky objects really clearly. Thanks for the details of how you captured the images; I hope to have a crack myself over the next few weeks, so that info is very helpful. You're the man for wide field astroimages! Keep them coming! Mike
