Very nice, it would be interesting to see someone review both items against each other.

My initial reaction is it's "alright".
For a start it's too expensive compared to the AT.
I do like the fact that you can get polar alignment from the unit
(the AT needs a geared head to mount onto)
but they are basically using half the drive they already have.
Polar alignment looks like it would bw very awkward.
No mention of error. Dont see any PEC unless you somehow
hook it up to an autoguider (can't see if there is a port on the unit for that) but I assume its compatable with the Lismandy accessories.
AT has this ability neatly designed into the unit.
The counterweight rack is limited, as opposed to the new AT one.
I dunno, Im just not sold on it.
I'd put the extra few quid twoards getting the AT travel system
and be done with it.
Although I wouldnt kick it outa bed for eatin Taytos.

I agree completely Frank.
It's basically just a small equatorial head.
I'd go the the AT unit.

The core package is only $700 most, seems like good value...

That's without a polar scope.
add 200 for it brings it to $900/
€626 which is just €10 less than the
new model Astrotrac & Polarscope.
Aside from the almost certian customs charge
shipping from the states is gonna be expensive.
Although the starlapse comes with a
tripod mount, a manfrotto geared head will
do perfectly with the Astrotrac.
If the price was $700 inc polar scope & shipping
I might raise an eyebrow but for my money the AT
has it beat hands down.
