This is something i tried out a few years ago.
I see the gras network has expanded significantly since then.
What way does it work with booking time on it nowadays?
Do you need to book several days in advance?

the booking system operates on a first come first served basis
but as yet I've only ever been pipped at the post once.
You are allowed to book up to 4 hours before but in general if the
observatory is free then you can log in and work away.
You can set up imaging plans and the like but you will not be
charged until you begin to drive the scope.
