Hi astroado, yeah I’ve stacked barlows in the past and I must say
it will dim the image somewhat, and can be tricky trying to keep the
image on the camera chip especially @f40 but it will work.
I went for a GSO ED Barlow 2.5x for about $50 from Agena Astro in the USA
check them out I think they have a eBay shop, great company to deal with and
no problem posting across the pond. 2.5 will give you f25 which I believe is
just right for imaging with a web cams.

Thank you for that Tony, I will def check out Agena Astro, might find some other stuff there as well, I am going to try and buy an Imagemate 4x, seems it is made for webcam imaging according to several web sites so thanks again for that Mike and thanks for the offer of loaning your Imagemate, sadly I don`t live near Dublin. This has been a great help to me and knowing there are people out there that know what they are talking about is a real relief. Thanks to all. :-)

I'd be concerned that with an f10 scope and a 4x barlow that
the image is going to be pretty dim and the seeing would want to be
very good to get decent results.

Stacking barlows is fine but the image does get dimmer and you
loose quality due to the extra glass.
You also have to have the stack pretty tight as any small shift can
make it difficult to get the projection dead on the chip and
if it's off even a fraction your going to have focus issues.

I have a 5x barlow and have only used it once or twice successfully,
I generally stick to the 2x when shooting with an spc900 thru the 10'' sct.

If I was to buy one it'd be the Televue 4x powermate but then I'd be also
thinking about upgrading the cam to a DMK to get the best image possible.
I think with the aperture scope you have 4x barlow will be pushing it.

Thanks Frank, hmm that would be getting pretty expensive, sure I would love a Televue and a DMK but my budget would not stretch that far, just bought the scope and all the other bits and pieces four months ago and to try to negotiate a budget plan with she who must be obeyed, well Merkel and Sarkozey would have more hope. I would really like to try the Imagemate 4x suggested by Mike, that way if I fail at least it was not an expensive failure. I suppose my biggest problem is not knowing what my limitations are, how far can you push an 8 inch scope while imaging, how much can you get out of an Neximage ccd camera and how cold during all this am I willing to get. Oh boy I have a lot to learn.
