Keith,
Currently the best is the Nikon D3x, but costs around €6500.
If you wish to stick with Canon, the Canon 7D is excellent at higher ISOs and costs around €1550

Nikon D700, same Nikon Sensor as the D3 but 1/2 the price. These are full frame cameras however. Are you not looking at cooling the camera anyway if you are looking for low noise.

Can I throw a spanner in the works and ask why anyone would drop $6500 on a dSLR for astrophotography?
I appreciate that one can get wider field photos with a dSLR but when you're talking about that much cash a dedicated, cooled CCD seems (to me) to make far more sense. For $6500 you could get a large sensor CCD and a filter wheel + filters.

I just got a
Nikon D3100
. Very acceptable noise levels at high ISO for a very acceptable price, with the added bonus of 1080p video for your planetary work.
But I think if you're looking for the ultimate in low noise/high quality imaging, most people will tell you to get a CCD.
