Hi all, I have some shots from summertime here taken from a trip to the Canary island of Fuerteventura, back in August of this year. I've only had time to look at them now :-(

I had a wonderful night there at that time, the sights of the southern milkyway were spectacular during that warm and dark night. I set up my astrotrac coupled with my Canon 40D and 200mm lens, here's the results:

I took shots of Scorpius' tail:

The Lagoon Nebula M8:

Starcluster's M6 & M7 Close up and widefield:

With binoculars the sheer amount of stars and clusters seen against the backdrop of the bright milkyway was superb!

Larger files can be seen here, I hope you enjoy them.

Lovely stuff Keith. All those countless stars!!!

When I win the Lotto, I'm moving to the clear skies and warm air of the Canaries. In the meantime, I'll get my overcoat and head for home in the rain.

Nice! I sometimes hear stories from friends who've been to warmer climes of the lovely skies and many stars. I am in no way envious, no sir! Not at all...

I give it a week and you'll miss the banks of cloud, intermittent showers and 18 layers of fleecy insulation.
