Thanks Dave, yeah same here, what is it about astronomy, you stand outside freezing for over two hours, icicles on your fingers, eyes and nose, then you come inside for ten miniutes, defrost and can`t wait to get out and do it again. If I could spend twenty four hours a day at the scope I am sure I would, or maybe I just have a problem. Is there an astronomy anonomous I wonder? :laugh:

Hi Carl.
Ready, ok here we go, firstly I use the Neximage camera, I load Registax version 6, I click on colour and LRGB, intensity selection at 3/3 area for Jupiter and have a limit setup of best frames at 80%. Then I select my avi, and select the best frame using the slider at the bottom.
I set align points and align. Using the Registrationgraph I use the slider to pick the highest quality and click on limit.
Then in stackgraph panel I pick the highest percentage Dif.cutoff and I stack. After stacking I save the image and move onto wavelets. I click view zoomed, RGB align and I click estimate. I then click Denoise/Deringing and bring up denoising to 502 and deringing to 152.
Then starting on wavelet 5 instead on 1, just like doing it that way, I move the slider to the right until the image becomes noisy, then I click on denoise on wavetlet until noise diminishes.
I repeat this process for wavelets 4,3,2 and 1, then click on linked wavelet.
I use denoise to minimise noise, then I click on Linegraph panel and centre between green and red. After each step I click on Do all as I don`t like using automatic, I then save the image as JPEG 8 bit RGB.
I then take the image to Photoshop elements, I click on enhance, Hue/Saturation, brightness, contrast and variations.
I then select filter Despeckle noise then filter Unsharp Mask. I save as JPEG image options Quality 8/High, Format Options/ Baseline (standard) and end up with the image as below. Sorry for going on, but we would really like to improve our imaging. Below image captured with WXastrocapture, 3 mins, 10 fps at f20 on the 15/12/2012, through cpc800, 1800 frames of which 1415 stacked in Registax

Hi mate,

Your processing is fine also try optimize in registax and see does that make a difference. I think what you need is a good webcam that is capable of much higher frame rate. When I'm imaging Jupiter I use 85 to 95FPS 1 minute for Red -Green and Blue that gives me around 6000 frames for each channel to run through registax. If planetary imaging is what you want to do invest in the best webcam you can afford.
