Hi there all.
I'm just wondering if anyone out there in astronomy land has any experience of the Astrotrac system?
I'm thinking that it would be an excellent piece of kit to expand on my tripod mounted astrophotography.
From what I've read on the web it gets a thumbs up each time, and the quality of the images displayed are certainly stunning.
Let me know.
Paul

Hi Paul,
I have been considering same and have been following the Astrotrac yahoo group for some time,
There seems to be a fair amount of people having problems with the polar finder scope but the community have tips and tricks to cope with it.
Apart from that it does look very nice but for the price of it I would have expected it to be 'flawless' I might be tempted if a new model comes out with problems ironed out.
Graham.

Hi Paul,
If i had 500e to spare i would rather go for motorized EQ3 or similar and i would have some cash left for guider etc.
Yes its portable and so on but 500e + good tripod etc...not really wort it in my opinion.

And you'll never look back in terms of portability I've had one now for two years, mind you it was pricey at €900 brand new at the time but it's a great system for mounting a dslr to a small scope.
I find the polar alignment a sinch, a child could do it  Tracking ability for two hours non stop, it is a little delicate but be careful with it and you'll have many happy hours shooting the sky with it. I think now there is an improved version?
Keith.
