Remember the 20Da all those years ago. Well Canon's just announced a follow up based on the 60D. 20% increase in h-alpha transmittance. Bigger 3" lcd and much better iso than the 20Da would have had.

Surprised that Canon brought this out for such a niche market. Not cheap though at $1500. Will be interesting to see some samples when it gets out in the field.

One of the side effects of the Sony camera scandal with the IR capability, is that this camera has very poor IR (worse than the standard 60d) performance as it has two "hot mirror" filters instead of the normal pair of filters that are in the 600d. After all, someone must think of the children.. </sarcasm>
I do wonder though how this camera compares to a normal 600d retrofitted with a Baader filter, running the Magic Lantern firmware addon. Still, it's good to see that Canon are looking at the market and seeing a niche for a product like this.

It has been discovered that the 60Da will only let through around 40% of HA/IR light through, very much the same as the 20Da did, a lot of people that got the 20Da ended up getting them modded, you need between 95 - 100% IR Passthru for it to be worth it.
What canon are charging for this is a ridiculous amount of money, considering you can by a 60D body for around $600-$800 and then they are charging $1495 for the 60Da, no thanks Canon
