Hi All,
Isn't it amazing how fast we're loosing Venus, no surprise though as its gonna cross the sun in about 11 days.
I decided to practice with the webcam and get an idea of the size, and boy its big, this is through the toucam without a barlow
I might try and capture it in this manner during the transit if possible.

This was taken in daytime, hence the blue sky,

Brilliant photo, Dave. I am just in from having a birthday dinner with Valerie. I feel I should accept this photo as birthday present from you, Dave. We observed Venus last night 24th when she was sporting a 5% lit crescent and over 53" disc. I plan to view it again tomorrow night with the 6.2" apo refractor.

Nice capture Dave.
I imaged it this afternoon with the TEC140, 2x barlow and DMK21.
While I was at it, I tried imaging Jupiter.
Much more difficult target than Benus as it's apparent size is much smaller and it is significantly fainter.
I left the image in mono as there was little detail on the disc.

good images there, imaging Jupiter in daytime is a tough one, I tried miserably before.
Given the weather I'm hoping to try and see as thin a crescent as possible before the transit.
At the time of the last transit I managed to see Venus through the 12" when it was 10.5 degrees from the sun, 6 days before the transit, I figured it was worth risking frying the webcam for it
Visually it was a hairline crescent. I want to beat this, this time around.

Wow, Dave. It is getting thinner all the time. Tonight it is 3.65% lit and 55" diameter.
