Moon shot was created by johnomahony
Had a night of very good seeing just after sunset tonight so I took a quick shot of the Moon which is now literally overhead. Canon 450D at ISO 100 at prime focus with my old Meade 8" SCT at F10. The Raw image is even sharper. The weather is warming up now so the seeing has improved quite a bit for an hour or so around sunset.

Thanks everyone.
The seeing was so steady it was as if there was no atmosphere. It helped having the moon practically overhead too. This as taken with a 450d with a 12mp sensor. If I had used say a 18 mp camera you would have been able to zoom into the craters. Getting a 7d!

Wow, Mare Serinitatis looks wonderful. Those ridges all have names. They all start with the word Dorsum. And I also see Rupes Altai near Theophilus -a glorious sight.
