Rosetta Flyby pictures was created by mjs
Hi all,
Caught the Rosetta passing Saturn earlier tonight. (Middle bottom of the picture) The first is an animation made fron several 30 second, ISO1600, Canon 300D images, 200mm lens and intermittent cloud. Unusually the elongated shape wasnt exactly in line with the direction of travel??? There was one frame in the middle with a shake that gave a double image but without this frame there is a noticable gap in the animation.
Below is a cropped section at full size from one frame.
Anyone else get an image??

Clouded out here Michael
That's a great achievement - the animation is cool!
Will you, in the cold light of day, go back and try and reprocess the images or is that the best you can get them?
Cheers

Thanks for the comments.
I did no processing on the images apart fron stitching them together into the animation. The single still image did get a little unsharp maskink applied to it. Not sure if there is anything more to get out of them though. Anyone got ideas??
It was much brighter than I expected, hence the high ISO that brightened the backround sky.

The next image in the secquence was clouded and I saw it no more after that. Had to rescue the telescope from the rain later .Clouded out here Michael

Michael,
Thats a great image, how long did it take for it to trail like that in the second image. was it 30 seconds ?
I took up you offer and did a very quick process of the second image.

There seems to be a brightening towards the second half of the trail, is this the wobble you talked about or was it rotating ?
As for my attempt, there was intermittent cloud with light rain, too risky for bringing out the scope, as I wouldn't be able to get it in the garage before it got soaked.
For some reason, my computer will not run gif files as animation so I cant see your first, anyone any ideas ??
